Yellow hammer (Emberiza citrinella)
An unmistakeable bird with a bright yellow head and breast, brown and black streaked back and white tail feathers. The Yellowhammer is a red list species after a recent population decline. Numbers of small farmland birds have declined by 80% over the past 50 years, part of an overall pattern of biodiversity loss across British farmland since the 1970s.
Our supplementary feeding project on Daylesford farm supports the conservation of yellowhammers and other at-risk species of native birds. We scatter birdseed daily through the cold months, helping farmland birds survive over winter and into spring, when they disperse to breed in healthier numbers. We will donate 10% of profits from this item to the Farmland Bird Aid Network, a local charity devoted to the conservation of farmland bird species. farmlandbirdaidnetwork.org
